Engineers biking for a cause
Starting today, two #MichiganEngineers and a U-M friend from the LS&A school will join 27 other cyclists from around the U.S. on a 4,043 mile bike ride from Florida to California.
Why, you ask?
The trio, who are all natives of Kalamazoo, MI, are raising money and awareness for the Kalamazoo Valley Habitat for Humanity. During the 11-week trip, called “Bike and Build,” they’ll also be stopping off in New Orleans and other Gulf Coast communities to help those still recovering from Hurricane Katrina.
Just another example of our #MichiganEngineers making a difference in the world…

To our beloved #MIchiganEngineers, we miss you guys already!
And just like that, the school year is over for the Michigan Engineering students.
Check out this sweet video from the commencement ceremony of class 2013. And yes, Dean Munson rocks!
We’re minutes away folks. #UMCOE13 is almost underway. Share your excitement - and snap a few pics while you’re at it!
MHybrid takes 4th place
While the rest of us back here in Ann Arbor are busy gearing up for the #UMCOE13 graduation ceremony, we may have forgotten that some students are still working hard to achieve their dreams - like the MHybrid racing team.
The second-year team won FOURTH PLACE nationally this year in the SAE Formula Hybrid Competition, AND took 2nd place in the Chrysler Innovation Award (which goes to teams who push the envelope when designing their cars).
“The team and I feel like we are on top of the world,” wrote co-leader Kara Stoltze in an email (while still on the road). “The accomplishments we’ve achieved and the sheer amount of improvement from this year and last year, our first year, makes us incredibly proud to be part of this team. The hard work, dedication, camaraderie, and passion we’ve witnessed over the past week has been inspiring.”
Big shout out to our #MichiganEngineers working to make hybrid cool again!
I got my commencement tickets and my cap and gown today
Congrats! #UMCOE13
#UMCOE13 Graduation is just around the corner. What are these soon-to-be alumni planning to do?
You know, just the usual… #changetheworld
Are you part of the Michigan Engineering class of 2013? Share your photos and thoughts during the experience - whether it’s dinner with the folks or the second after you shift your tassel to the “graduate on” position - share what you want by using #UMCOE13
Right, so we know you’re happy to be graduating, but…
…if you could bring yourself to do one last thing before you jet, the Engineering Career Resource Center could use your help. Oh, and there’s something in it for you…
Help future students make decisions about the job market by telling them what your plans are. It takes just a few minutes to fill out the Job & Salary Survey to tell them your post-graduation plans. And the information helps them help others.
Swing by the ECRC booth in the Dude sometime today or tomorrow between 11am and 3pm to fill out the survey and they’ll give you this awesome Alumni T-shirt (yes, you’re about to be one of them :)
AND… they’ll register you to win a free iPad Mini. How cool is that?
No time? Well, you can fill it out the old-fashioned way - online - and still get your prizes.
